Important set up information and video

The USB 2.0 Travel Kit Enclosure has several power
options. The image above shows the DC power connector
being used. |
Once
the drivers (if necessary) are installed and
one of the power sources is connected to the enclosure
cap
to
the HDD,
the drive
must be
initialized
to properly
function on your system.
Important Note: Until the
HDD is initialized, it will not produce a drive icon
in
your
Hard Disk
Drive field of My Computer or Explorer but will be
visible in your system Hardware
Devices list under
disk drives. For XP users, download this
instructional video in .swf (Flash) format if you're
unfamiliar with initializing a hard
drive in XP. Your Flash plug-in should bring up the
video automatically. |

The Drive

IBM DARA-212000 HDD
|
The
drive used in our testing was an IBM DARA- 212000,
its dimensions in millimeters are: 9.5(H), 69.9(W),
100.2(D) and its weight is 99.0 grams. The drive itself
has 12 GIG capacity and is well suited for this USB
2.0 Enclosure. The drive power was totally supported
by Bus power with no problems. |
USB 2.0 2.5 inch travel kit enclosure testimonial
 |
I'm
very pleased with this enclosure. It is a perfect
travel size for a portable backup or a portable bootable
system drive. Admittedly I was a little confused
with how the drive operated because I had never added
a HDD to my laptop with Windows XP. Once I figured
it out I was flying. The information above is very
important to the drives operation on your system and
I would suggest you read it and view the video so
you understand what has to be done for proper functionality.
As I said, I was flying with this , there seems to
be no noticeable difference in speed between
this
drive within a USB
enclosure and an internal drive. The drive function
from the My Computer
window also functions just like any other drive on your system, storage,
back-up, copy, paste, view, copy from, running programs
and what
ever else you would use a drive for.
I would definitely recommend the USB 2.0 2.5 inch
Travel Kit Enclosure as an alternative to disassembling
your current PC or laptop to add a drive.
