How the USB Serial Multi Port Converter Works
|The USB Serial Multi-Port RS-232 converter with Prolific chip set allows the use of multiple serial devices via USB control. The USB Serial Multi-Port converter is totally self powered by the USB Port it's connected to. The USB Serial converter not only adds the 4 serial ports to you PC or Laptop as seen in the image the right but also adds an additional USB port as Serial converter to your computer with the supplied USB type "A" to "B" cable. You will see all LED indicators power up. Using the new hardware wizard let Windows automatically install the hardware drivers which it will grab from the driver disk already in your drive. You will see the new hardware wizard several times as it must install the driver for each of the serial ports to function properly with the USB port. You will see that the prolific USB serial bridge drivers will be installed for each new hardware found. Once installation is complete, the serial port LED's will flash indication it's ready for operation.
