Hard Drive Mounting Process
the mounting brackets included in the USB2.0 + IEEE 1394
Mass Storage combo enclosure locate the mounting holes
on the bottom (circuit side) of your hard drive. Install
the brackets with the supplied mounting screws as shown
here to the left. Please refer to the user's
clarification. The Screws do not have to be torqued down,
just more than finger tight is sufficient. Remember to
use proper ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) precautions when
working with electronics. Once the brackets are secured
hard drive, you're ready to install it into the enclosure.
the top cover of the USB2.0 IEEE 1394 combo enclosure you'll
need to remove 4 screws. The 1st and 2nd screws located
on either side of the enclosure closest to the face plate
these screws are recessed below the enclosure surface,
the 3rd and 4th screws are located in the back near the
fan and ports for the USB cable and the firewire cables.
Although there are 4 screws in the back of the enclosure,
only the top 2 need be removed leaving the bottom for mounting the
hard drive. The user's
manual shows the screw locations and disassembly of
seat the hard drive into the USB2.0 IEEE 1394 combo enclosure
you'll need to slide the front plate out and back, this
will allow you to make the data cable and power connections
with minimal interference.
Make your data cable and power connections to the hard
drive. Once connected, slide the hard drive into place
by lining up the mounting holes in the brackets attached
to the hard drive with the mounting holes in the USB2.0
IEEE 1394 combo enclosure. Screw the supplied screws into
the enclosure taking care not to over tighten and strip
the mounting holes.
Once the hard drive is secured into place, the front plate
of the USB2.0 IEEE 1394 combo enclosure can be replaced
to start reassembling the enclosure. Please see the user's
manual for further instructions.

4 supplied mounting screws. The USB2.0 IEEE 1394 combo
now be reassembled for use. Shown to the right, the enclosure
has been reassembled with the hard drive mounted inside
and is ready to be used with the computer system. Once
all cables and power are connected the new hard drive must
be initialized to function on your system, this is normal
when adding any new mass storage device to a system. Please

USB2.0 + 1394 Firewire 3.5 inch Combo Enclosure Testimonial
|I liked the feel of this enclosure, it is extremely
light weight and easy to work with. Installing the hard
drive was basically a two step process where you attach
the mounting brackets to the hard drive first, then the
hard drive with the brackets to the USB2.0 + 1394 mass
storage combo enclosure. Once the hard drive was mounted
into the enclosure it was pretty simple to reassemble
the enclosure so I could use it with the computer. I
tried both the USB2.0 and the IEEE 1394 connections,
both operated equally as well and equally as fast. Copying
a gig or two of data literally only took about 2 minutes
to complete and access time to the copied file on the
drive where the same as access my local drive.
I think you can really come to new terms with mass storage
