The
Mass Storage Combo 2.5 inch Enclosure employs both
USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 technologies to give your system
the maximum flexibility and system performance it

The
first thing that needs to be done is to remove the
two flexible end caps from the enclosure. They are
there for protecting the enclosure once the assembly
is complete. The Mass Storage Combo 2.5 inch USB
2.0 and IEEE 1394 enclosure is a screw less assemble.
The case snaps securely together once the hard drive
is installed. |

By
squeezing the sides of the Mass Storage Combo 2.5
inch USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 enclosure the assembly
will release from the sides held by it latches
in all 4 corners. Once opened, the circuit board
is exposed to show 2 screws in either corner nearest
the USB and IEEE 1394 ports and a front locking
latch at the ribbon end of the enclosure. Remove
these screws and release the front latch to assemble
the hard drive to the circuit board. |

Assembling
the hard drive to the Mass Storage Combo 2.5 inch
USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 enclosure is simple once the
circuit board has been removed. Simply attach the
IDE ribbon to the hard drive, then line up the 4
hard drive mounting holes and attach the hard drive
to the USB 2.0 ieee 1394 circuit with the included
screws from the enclosure kit. How's that for SIMPLE?! |

That's
it!
Close the enclosure up in the same manner it was
taken apart by first placing the circuit back into
the enclosure and securing both the front latch and
the 2 rear screws as shown above. Replace the top
cover of the enclosure by lining up the latches,
squeeze slightly to start the cover to close and
finish by snapping shut the cover making sure it
is secure.
Plug in cables and power source if necessary to the
computer and you're ready to go! |
USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 enclosure notes
Just
a couple of notes:
The Mass Storage Combo 2.5 inch USB
2.0 and IEEE 1394 enclosure is equipped with both
USB and IEEE 1394 Firewire ports, if using the USB
port when operating the enclosure and your computer
has either a USB 2.0 card or built in USB 2.0 ports,
the enclosure will run off of bus power and will
not need the AC adapter. If using the IEEE 1394 Firewire
port on the enclosure, you will have to use the AC
adapter unless you have a 6-pin ieee 1394 port on
you computer, In this case the enclosure would run
on bus power. |

The Mass Storage
Combo 2.5 inch USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 enclosure is
the easiest of enclosures I have used to date. A very
simple "Screw Less" design makes this enclosure not only
an attractive device but also a very quick connecting
device. Internally there are 4 mounting holes for the
hard drive assembly and a data ribbon. This made the
assembly quick and painless. Both ieee 1394 and usb 2.0
port connections worked perfectly in connectivity and
data transfer. Using Windows XP, I didn't have to use
the included software disk. All drivers were already
present in XP and the mass storage device was recognized
instantly.
If you traveling from client to client as a graphic designer
or multimedia expert, the portability of the enclosure
make it perfect to conduct business in a very professional
manner, it really is a must have!
I tent to look at the best when purchasing my computer
equipment and peripherals, this Mass
Storage Combo 2.5 inch USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 enclosure certainly
ranks up in the top 10 of thing to have for computer
