Product Description

The USB to DVI Adapter allows you to use your computers USB port to connect extra monitors. The connected monitors can be configured to either mirror your primary screen, or extend the Windows desktop allowing visibility of more applications at the same time.

The USB to DVI driver used to control the extra screens uses little computer resource and offers a vast array of screen resolutions and color depths. This ensures that here is little difference in performance between a directly connected screen and a screen connected through the USB to DVI Graphics Adapter.

PC Requirements

The USB to DVI Adapter software can be installed on any desktop or laptop system running one of the following Operating Systems:

  • Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2
  • Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4
  • Windows Vista 32/64bit and Windows 7 32/64bit

Up to six USB to DVI Graphics Adapters can be connected to the PC at a time. If you attach more adapters to a PC, subsequent ones will not be active.

The minimum hardware requirements for the PC are:

  • PC with 1.2GHz or higher processor clock speed required.
  • Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended 512 megabytes (MB) of RAM
  • At least one USB2.0 port 12Mb of available disk space
  • Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher- resolution video adapter and monitor
  • CD-ROM or DVD drive.

Features: Up to 6 VGA to DVI Adapters can be used on one computer. DVI-I output, connect both a VGA display and or a DVI display. Output resolutions up to 1600x1200

This tiny adapter allows a plug and play connection of a DVI or VGA display to any USB 2.0 port so you can add digital video displays or projectors to your laptop and personal computer for simultaneous video delivery without needing a DVI port. Output video is delivered in the DVI-I format, allowing for either VGA or DVI display compatibility.

Supported Modes There are three components that make up the screen mode:

  1. Resolution: In common usage, this refers to the number of pixels displayed on screen horizontally and vertically.
  2. Color Depth: This defines the number of different colors that can be shown on the screen at the same time.
  3. Refresh rate: Measures the speed that the entire screen is re-scanned. Below is a list of refresh rates Supported at various resolutions and color depths for the COOLGear DVI-PRO USB to DVI Adapter.

Note: If the monitor does not advertise the supported modes, the COOLGear DVI-PRO USB to DVI Adapter will choose a set of common screen modes. If cloning the primary display, the COOLGear DVI-PRO USB to DVI Adapter will try to use the preferred monitor mode. In some cases, this may not be the most appropriate mode for the cloned desktop. It is recommended that the primary display resolution is changed to closer match the default resolution of the COOLGear DVI-PRO USB to DVI Adapter monitor.

Users also have the option of having the USB connected display mirror the main display or extend the desktop to provide increased visibility and the ability to view several applications at the same time in a multiple display situation. Testing has shown that up to six USB to DVI Graphics Adapters can be connected to any one personal computer with a reliable delivery of video to all six displays. User Guide (click Here)
