How to connect the U5-IrDA usb infrared adapter

| The
U5-IrDA is simple to install and remove at will. |
Just
insert it into you usb port and Windows will
recognize it. Once inserted, a flickering red
LED will appear, this just shows power enabled. |
If
you have to install the driver you'll get a
warning from Windows XP about the driver certificate.
Just click continue anyway to install the driver. |

NOTE: If
you are inserting the U5-IrDA into a system
that has an IR port enabled
such as on a laptop, the
drivers will not conflict but your systems IR
will be the default
used.
To use
the IR-Wand, simply disable not delete your systems
IR port temporarily (DO NOT DELETE
YOUR SYSTEMS IR DRIVER).

During
the testing of the U5-IrDA a Palm Tungsten
E was used for a file transfer. After the
U5-IrDA
was installed and the system IR disabled,
an Excel file was transferred from the PC
to the
PDA via the USB U5-IrDA (or IR-Wand). Your
PDA's system will ask if you want to accept
the file
being transferred. During the transfer your
screen will show your file(s) being transferred
and a wireless icon will
become visible in your system tray. The icon
to the right shows the presence of
another IR (infrared) device . |

What's

Included
in the package is the U5-IrDA dongle, all drivers
on a mini CD-ROM, a printed manual with instructions
for installation on Windows systems and how
to use the usb IR-Wand on various types of cell
phones. The instructions also include instructions
for pocket PC and palm Hot Sync functions.
Also included is a USB cable male type "A" to
female type "A", this allows better
positioning of your new usb IR adapter. |

U5-IrDA usb infrared adapter testimonial
Using
the U5-IrDA was pretty cool! If you need to transport data
quickly, this is the tool to help you do it. I used the usb
adapter for infrared transfer to bring some files with me rather
than copying to CD-ROM because There wasn't going to be a PC
available where the files were going to be viewed. To start,
the setup and functionality of the U5-IrDA was flawless in
that the PDA that I used was found right away meaning that
the usb
infrared adapter reacts very quickly to other IR devices within
it 1 meter range. The end result was a quick data transfer
of a document for my clients to review before final draft.
The convenience of this was much better than bringing the laptop
with me. Any changes I made were then uploaded to the pc using
the same method.
I definitely recommend the U5-IrDA usb infrared adapter
for convenience, quick data transfers for both non IR and IR enabled
computers.
