Serial ATA 2 Port Multiplier with Steelvine RAID processor CGS-4723PCB-A1 is a 1 host to 2 drive intelligent SATA II storage processor that allows users to easily deploy and manage reliable, affordable storage devices that connect to the fast, serial, hot pluggable, SATA I and SATA II host ports found in PCs, consumer devices and servers. System designers can take advantage of the CGS-4723PCB-A1 hardware RAID features to build high performance, reliable storage solutions that offer OS transparency thereby greatly simplifying product development as well as the user experience. Additionally, the CGS-4723PCB-A1 contains a SATA enclosure management bridge (SEMB) to pass in-band enclosure management information between the host and an enclosure management device. Other important features include, programmable high drive capability hr back plane and external applications, asynchronous notification to eliminate the need for host polling to determine if a device has been added or removed, and hot plug support. The CGS-4723PCB-A1 is compatible with today\'s SATA Gen1 and Gen2 host controllers. PC makers, consumer electronics providers and storage system vendors looking to connect to SATA Gen1 and Gen2 controllers may use the CGS-4723PCB-A1 to develop storage appliances that offer the benefits of RAID but with plug and play simplicity.
