It's very well made. nice solid metal build with a small footprint. BUT It says USB 3.0 Right on the box....... The listing says USB 3.2 gen 1. They lied.

The good:they have enough power to run things off of, and overall it works when plugged directly into my desktop. The Bad:t is not actually a true 7 port USB hub, but 2 4 port hubs daisy chained internally, which means that in some configurations (laptop dock & KVM, you will run into a situation where half the ports cannot be used due to limits on how many layers of USB hubs you can have

I bought these for a joystick assembly. I used some 20x20 aluminum to mount a pair of high ending joysticks onto a thing I could use to mount and remove them from my desk easily. This lets mounted easily and accepts USB3 and power so minimized my cable mess.It does get warm, but not alarmingingly. Has given me zero issues. Works on Linux with no special drivers.

This device introduces quite a bit of noise at multiple of 8kHz due to USB microframe packet noise. Basically they used a cheap internal power supply that fluctuates under the repeated 8kHz load of handling microframe packets, which will show up in a lot of musical equipment connected to this hub.

This is the best way to deal with all the USB connected devices. Sure there are a couple convenient ports on the front of your machine but they get used up quickly. This one is easy to mount and offers full speed and power, much better than unplugging and plugging USB cables. Make it easy on yourself.

Bought this specifically to mount it to a plate and attach to some 80/20 framing. It would have been helpful to have the correct dimensions for the mounting holes. I looked up on their website (after I had already measured, thankfully) and the dimensions on the item did not quite match their published specifications (off by about 1 mm). FWIW, the four smaller (#6 or 3mm) mounting holes were 25 mm apart on the short side and 123 mm apart on the long side. The hub worked well with a Raspberry Pi 4, though.

I teach college level computer art courses via video chat on my laptop which only has two USB ports. I've been using this device for about three months now and it hasn't let me down. I have attached my HD camera, microphone, speakers, a secondary screen, a drawing tablet, an external hard drive, and a spare slot I sometimes use to charge my phone. It has a nice, rugged build with a metal exterior so I don't have concerns about it being damaged if I need to move to a different location. All of the ports are USB 3.0 so it has reliable speed of data transfer for my external hard drive and clean video from my high definition video camera.If there is one drawback it would be that, in addition to plugging into your computer's USB port (obviously), you will also need to plug this into a power source but I feel like this is to be expected of a device that provides seven ports AND fast charging.

I bought this hub so it could be mounted on a desk or wall. It appears to be well built after a small hiccup.I bought this hub so it could be mounted on a desk or wall. It appears to be well built after a small hiccup.When it arrived I quickly started to test it. Right from the start, I was using Hdtune software to benchmark the performance. I was receiving a "Read Error" from the software on every port that I tested. I switched flash drives and the same result occurred. I surmised that it could possibly be a bad cable that it came with the hub, so I tested the hub with my own usb 3.0 cable. Low and behold, everything worked like it should have. I quickly contacted the company about the issue. After informing them of my testing process, they decided to send me a new cable. In a about a week I received the new cable and all was well. To be fair, this can happen to any company. Even quality brand cables can have this happen. I haven't used this hub, except to test it, but hopefully it will be a real performer. A side note is that when I tested it, I lost ~30mbs drop in performance over plugging straight into the motherboard. It's not critical for my use, but using it for a hard drive it may be an issue. I'm wondering if people who purchased this hub and had problems, if their problem could be the cable. Just a thought.

Great little USB hub. A lot of times these things are hit and miss for Apple USB products for some reason, but not this!

Top notch customer service the product I ordered went on backorder and I was personally contacted by there customer support so see if I wanted to wait or do something different ended up substituting a comparable product and shipped it out ASAP. Great build quality well packed very happy.

Wall mountable. Works with no issues. Cannot say much about its durability, but I had it on for a good half of the year and it was on all the time with no pickups.

Needed something that could be mounted. And have daisy chained two together and works a treat with my 3 external disk drives to my iMac. Well, it did. I had the one attached to the iMac connected to my drives. Yesterday I lost one of the drives. No matter what I did, the Mac would not see it. Rebooted hoping to get it back, and when the system came up, I had lost another drive. I connected the two "missing" drives to the 2nd hub that is daisy chained to the first. My Mac saw them right away. I have a backup going now on my Time Machine external (only one left visible on the primary hub) and when it finishes, I will power cycle the hub and see if the Mac can then see them again. If not, is it logical that I could actually lose ports on a powered usb hub?Will update with what I learn.I had 3 external drives attached to this hub. As well as a 2nd, identical, hub daisy chained. 1 of the drives on the primary went off line. I rebooted my Mac. When it came back up the 2nd of 3 drives was not available. I disconnected and reconnected the same drive in the same hub. No joy. I plugged both drives into the chained hub, and it worked. I reconnected them back to the primary and still no joy. It wasn't until, like the other reviewer said, I powered cycled the hub did the 3 come back on the original hub. I have had this hub since the middle of July and it has been constantly on and connected. It was only today that I had problems. I am outside my return window to Amazon. I will watch the hub and see if it the problem recurs. If so, I will contact the manufacturer. The hub, when it works, is perfect for my needs. When.As with everything YMMV.

You have to cycle the power on the hub, or reboot for external drives to be recognized if you disconnect and reconnect your laptop.
