Rock-Solid USB Hub for a Linux SSD Array
Review by
I use this hub on a Linux server with five Samsung T7 4TB portable SSDs combined into a single ~20TB LVM volume. I needed a hub that would reliably enumerate all drives at boot, remain stable under sustained sequential transfers, and handle heavy I/O without disconnects. In my setup, the GM-HU310C-DW has done exactly that.

Thefore this, I tried other USB 3.2 hubs. With a couple of cheaper models, some drives would fail to enumerate after reboot and had to be replugged manually, which made them unusable for an unattended server. A StarTech hub was much better, but I still saw occasional disconnects on a few ports during sustained I/O. Moving those drives to other available ports helped temporarily, but it was not a real solution.

The Gearmo hub has been running 24/7 with zero disconnects and zero boot-time enumeration issues. All five drives come up cleanly on every restart.

The metal chassis, DIN-rail mounting option, and front-facing ports make it easy to integrate into a permanent setup. I also like that the all-USB-C layout keeps the hub compact for the number of ports, especially compared with USB-A or mixed-port hubs, while also avoiding a mix of connector types. The included 24V power supply has had no trouble powering five bus-powered SSDs in continuous use.

If you need a USB hub for a multi-drive Linux storage setup and care about both reliability and real-world USB 3.2 Gen 2 performance, this one has been excellent in my experience.
