USB 3.2 Gen 1 Hub for Charging and Data
The new USBGear USBG-BREC304 is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 compact and mountable 4 Port Hub. The hub’s data transfer rates are standard for USB 3.2 Gen 1 at 5Gbps for SuperSpeed streaming information. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub is easily transported or can be placed in a stationary position by wall or table top mounting.
The USB 3.2 Gen 1 4-Port hub is housed in a heavy duty extruded aluminum chassis with mounting flanges on either end. It is designed to have excellent heat distribution while in operation in various environments when being used to charge a device at 900mA (follows battery charging specifications 1.2), or to transfer data at USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, it is also backward compatible with specifications of USB 2.0 High Speed or, USB 1.1 Low Speed.
Suggested USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub applications may include: Industrial, Medical, Education, Business, Laboratory, and Gaming.

Decent built quality, way too bright leds.

Works fine, but a few points...It can only be wall mounted one direction due to the mounting holes only have the divots in one direction, with the cables exiting left.The included usb cable is very short, maybe 3 feet or so.They included bright blue leds next to every port that are always on.. It was like a flashlight until I opened the unit and covered the leds.

We really need to federally ban blue LEDS for consumer products as status lights. This device will fill the ENTIRE room with blue light. I recommend opening it up and removing or painting over or covering the LEDS of this product if you intend to use this in a room you sleep in.

A disappointing discovery

For context, I am a mechatronics engineering student with a singificant amount of experience with DIY electronics projects. I bought this to serve as an internal powered USB hub for a 3d printer I'm designing and making from scratch. To prep it for installation, i had planned to swap out the barrel jack for two wires soldered direct to the PCB to save some space [warranties fear me]. When I disassembled the hub, I noticed that the ground pins on all 5 USB ports had far less solder than ideal, and many of the data pins also seemed a bit "malnourished" themselves, albeit to a lesser degree. When connecting components to PCBs via through holes, it is highly unusual to leave enough of a gap that you can still see through the board when finished. When reading other reviews, I noticed many of them mentioned issues with long term reliability or durability, and I suspect my discovery is the main cause. It's a real shame, because the build quality of the housing is otherwise very nice. I feel the need to clarify I can't yet corroborate these complaints, as I have yet to put my USB hub to the test long term. Luckily, this should be cheap and easy for the manufacturer to correct if they read my review. While this isn't a big deal for me to fix, I suspect it would be a susbtantial inconvenience for most consumers.
